Why we’re special
Putting the “special” in Special Operations is programmer, web developer, designer and founder John Gillespie.
John has over ten years specialist expertise crafting and coding beautiful designs into creation, and has mission experience with some of New Zealand’s biggest companies and government agencies, including New Zealand Post, Datamail, Tower Insurance, Fletcher Building and Inland Revenue.
John was previously deployed as Senior Developer with YouXD (formerly Communication Arts), and prior to that Wellington based new media specialists Chrometoaster, and has been leading Special Operations into battle since 2006.
John maintains and writes articles for a journal of special operations in web development and graphic design, The Special Blog.

Dave Goodison / Senior Project Specialist
With 10 years of project management experience under his diamond-encrusted, studded belt, Dave Goodison is a production and deadline specialist, and a bona-fide rockstar too, a former guitarist for kiwi rock legends Garageland. Dave currently moonlights as a music producer, and is a touring and session musician for artists including Boh Runga, Greg Johnson and Carly Binding.
While his eyes may be in the stars, Dave’s feet are firmly rooted in time-lines and deliverables, and his extensive project management experience includes positions with Communication Arts and Health TV.
Jeremy Snowsill / Senior Design Specialist
With a special eye for detail and a more than decade long background in design, Jeremy Snowsill is the design specialist at Special Operations.
Jeremy’s special background in design includes deployments with You XD and his own boutique design firm, Long White Cloud, and he recently ventured into the world of social networking, designing and building his own network, the environmentally focused Dawn.
Tim Cranfield / Senior Special Developer
Once upon a time just a scalpel width from becoming a surgeon, Tim Cranfield is possibly the smartest man to operate a computer, and has virtually a doctorate in the arcane arts of functions, variables and arrays.
A programming specialist, Tim possesses a recursively large skillset in website development, and is the first operative deployed for all of Special Operation’s database and development needs.
Mission-fit in every sense of the word, Tim is also a sub-three hour marathoner, and an ultra-running champion and triathlete.
Ash Boyd / Video Production Specialist
Ash Boyd is a special operator behind a camera and behind a desk, and he leads the deployment of Special Operations in the video domain.
A talented cameraman and a skilled video editor, Ash has 5 years experience working in video production and editing, including a tour of duty with new media broadcasters IMTV.
